SCHOOL COSTUME
Ladies:
Beginner ladies who opt to participate in performances or competitions will be required to purchase a simple black dress and blue sash.  Information will be provided on where to purchase these items.  After the first year, dancers who wish to perform or compete must purchase a school dress.  Information on how to order a dress will be provided.  All ladies must wear black opaque dance tights (no seams or panels on the thighs and not see-through like hose), black spankies (bloomers), and ghillies or hard shoes.  Skirt length should rest just above the kneecap when leg is extended with foot pointed in front.  Secure the shawl with brooches of the dancer’s choice, at the left shoulder and 2 inches behind the seam at the right hip at waist level. Use safety pins or stitch the shawl in place, to prevent it from coming loose when dancing.  The shawl should hang straight down the back when secured.

Gents: Costume is a black long-sleeved shirt, with black tab or Nehru collar, and black pants, socks, belt, and jazz shoes (with or without heel) or hard shoes.
